A Year of Yoga and Relationships: Reflecting on 2023 with YHET

As 2023 draws to a close, it’s time to reflect on the incredible journey I’ve had in my role as Marketing Consultant with the fabulous people behind Yoga for Health & Education Trust (YHET). My connection with YHET began through Becki (my friend from a previous mutual client) providing an introduction that seamlessly blended both professional collaboration and friendship.

Trust and Dedication

One of the standout aspects of this year has been observing the respect and bond among the five Trustees, Sara, Mary, June, Jackie and Ally. Their commitment to upholding the legacy and the YHET eths of ‘Yoga For All’ is awe-inspiring. It’s evident that their shared dedication forms the foundation of a strong and nurturing organisation.

Sedgebrook Hall Yoga Retreat

The Sedgebrook Hall Yoga Retreat marked a turning point in my experience with YHET. Beyond the official capacities, it was a chance to witness the depth of relationships within the YHET community. I found a real connection with Sue, Claire, and Philip which was a joy, as was the obvious friendships between everybody who attended the retreat. Meeting all the Trustees face to face was a special moment, and Sara, true to her word, shared the promised hug that for me captured the spirit of YHET.

Personal Challenges

Sadly, this year has presented personal challenges for me, particularly in navigating the deteriorating health of my ageing parents and as Christmas approaches, the emotional difficulty runs deep. Yet, the understanding and support from the YHET community provides a much-needed reminder that even during the tough times, we can find joy and gratitude in those close to us.

Valuing My Relationship with YHET

My connection with YHET has become more than just a professional engagement. It’s wonderful to see the support they give their community (including myself) which for me, emphasises the significance of authentic connections. Despite having practiced yoga myself for over 20 years (on and off), I’ve learnt so much more about the benefits of yoga. My deepened understanding will help me both personally and in my capacity of supporting YHET in their goal to extend the reach of the organisation.

Looking Ahead to 2024

The Trust’s dedication to its legacy, the warmth of its members, and the supportive network it provides have made 2023 a truly memorable chapter in my life. My year with YHET has been a journey of professional growth and genuine connections. I am filled with gratitude for the relationships forged and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.

Cheers to YHET and the transformative power of yoga and genuine connections in the coming year!
