ACCESSIBLE YOGA

OUR ETHOS

At the Yoga for Health and Education Trust (YHET) we are passionate about the benefits of Yoga for All

A commitment to inclusiveness is at the heart of YHET. Our classes and retreats are carefully designed to cater to your needs, irrespective of your age or physical ability. Since the earliest days of our organisation, we have been hosting 5-day residential events tailored for individuals with disabilities and health conditions such as MS, ME, Parkinsons, Heart Disease, Stroke and Arthritis. We truly believe that extended residential experiences offer greater health and wellbeing benefits, providing participants with ample time to immerse in practices, while developing connections with like-minded people.

Do you find it difficult to participate in a general class?
Do you suffer with fatigue?
Do your joints feel stiff?
Is your energy low?
Do you find living with your condition results in stress?
Do you want to learn something that you can do every day to boost your energy?

What Yoga Can Do For You:

Yoga provides non-competitive practical tools that can be used to maximise health in a comfortable encouraging way without stressing an already stressed body.
Yoga gently stretches & relaxes muscles.
Yoga helps relieve unnecessary tension and discomfort relaxing the body and mind.
Yoga quietens the over-active mind and emotions.
Yoga reduces stress and anxiety.
Yoga is one of the best practices to develop or enhance the mind-body connection.
Yoga lets us connect with our inner self.
Yoga develops balance, harmony and a general state of well-being so important for healing.

Breath is the catalyst between mind and body and emotions are the body’s reaction to the mind. Many health conditions affect the breath’s rhythm; for instance, fatigue leads to shallow breathing and diminished energy. When the breath flows freely, it restores harmony, balance, energy and stimulates healing. The intricate relationship between breath, mind, and emotions profoundly influences the autonomic nervous system (ANS), triggering stress and its myriad consequences. A calm, steady mind harmonises with a calm, steady breath and vice versa. We all breathe so we can all harness the benefits of yoga.

What some of the participants have said about our events:

Yoga is fun
Yoga means relaxation and stretching
Yoga means calmness and stillness
Yoga increases energy and creates an inner peace
Yoga is a process of self-discovery
Yoga improved some symptoms and removed others
Yoga events are a social activity that can build friendships

We extend a warm invitation to join us on our retreats and experience this firsthand. Why not join us on our next Accessible Yoga Retreat at the Calvert Trust Centre in Exmoor in June 2025. To find out more click here.
