A New Venue…….again!

It was with great trepidation that I started liaising with CIM Business after the venue was recommended by Missenden Abbey, when they ceased trading.

A little history…….. on our retreat journey, we had been going to Highgate House for over 10 years to hold our yoga weekends, but sadly they did not survive the Covid epidemic and the family sold the property to a Christian organisation.

We did enquire whether they would host us but the answer was that they would only be hosting Christian organisations.

We then found Felden Lodge owned by the Boys’ Brigade, and had several very successful weekend retreats before that also closed and sold because of financial constraints.

Missenden Abbey was a great venue for a couple of years but they had to close too!

We were thrilled in 2025 to host an accessible retreat at Calvert Devon…but then they also could no longer afford to continue. Once again we lost this venue.

We held a few weekends at  Sedgebrook Hall Hotel, Northantsbut after Covid they raised the minimum numbers we would need for a booking to ensure we had the ground floor room for yoga.  The hotel did not have a lift so it made it impossible to hold a “ Yoga for Every Body” weekend there.

So now we’ve just had our first retreat at CIM Business and it was fabulous.

I thought that such a corporate venue would be difficult.

However it was quiet and calm and the staff were the most helpful of anywhere that we have been.

Our theme was “Being your own best friend” so a weekend of being kind to ourselves. Anne Leach came to lead a fun international dance session. Sharòn Cohen led a lovely sangha session. David led wonderful sessions including nidra and then to wake us up before travelling home a little song.

I led “Words and Music” on Sunday morning and a couple of relaxed yoga sessions.

We will be returning in April next year, please keep your eye on the website for details.
