EVENT REVIEWS – Missenden Abbey

First YHET Weekend at Missenden Abbey

This first YHET weekend at Missenden Abbey was a real treat which I thoroughly enjoyed. The setting among the beech trees of Buckinghamshire and with its own walled garden was beautiful especially in brilliant sunshine.

The accommodation worked well with bedrooms being close to the yoga practice rooms and the food was plentiful and very good. The very relaxed friendly atmosphere contributed to the wonderful nurturing and accessible yoga provided by the teachers. The teaching was so well integrated and it was lovely that 2 newly qualified teachers were able to contribute as well.

I hope we can return here and many thanks to Ally and everyone who made the weekend such a positive experience.

Nurturing and Restoring Retreat

I left the Missenden Abbey retreat feeling nurtured and restored. The classes were wonderful as usual, delivered with thought and precision. I met old friends and made new ones; something YHET has perfected, is making you feel you are part of a family!

The hotel staff were professional and so polite; they went to every length to cater for a variety of dietary needs and nothing was too much trouble. The security manager even moved all my yoga bags to another room when the location was changed!

I think this was my favourite YHET retreat to date; thank you to everyone involved in organising it and for all that you do ❤️

A lovely venue, people, yoga teaching and food!

The waiters and waitresses were a delight. How refreshing to have some nice cheerful customer service!
I will do my best to spread the word about YHET.

My First YHET Event and Residential Yoga Retreat

The weekend at Missenden Abbey was my first YHET event (and first residential yoga retreat). Everyone was so friendly and supportive that my anxieties about being ‘the new girl’ were quickly soothed. Everything was so well organised that I could really immerse myself into the wonderful yoga sessions, and meeting everyone. Having spent quite a few years trying to further the reach of accessible and adaptive yoga it was just amazing and uplifting to be with YHET members who have been doing this for so long. My big regret is I didn’t find YHET 10 years ago!

Missenden Abbey is a wonderful venue, the staff were just superb and the kitchen was beyond helpful about providing dairy free food – I’d say they were actually enthusiastic which is rare! Everything else about it was lovely, bedrooms comfortable and quiet, very good wifi, beautiful grounds.
Thank you all very much, this was a wonderful introduction to YHET and it was so kind of everyone to take time to chat to me about Adaptive Yoga. Hard to express the joy and relief at having met with such a professional and welcoming organisation as YHET after years of struggle on the margin.
